Your tracker hasn’t synced yet
Your tracker’s app has to send today’s data to Apple Health or Health Connect before MoveTogether can see it. Some tracker apps only do that when you open them. Until it arrives, MoveTogether counts another device so your ring doesn’t sit at zero:- iPhone: your Apple Watch if you have one, otherwise whichever device recorded the most. Say you chose WHOOP and timed a run in Garmin Connect. If WHOOP hasn’t synced yet, your Move can show Garmin’s calories for a while.
- Android: Health Connect’s combined total for the day.
- Open Settings > Data Sources.
- Under Health Data, each row shows what your chosen tracker sent today. A dash means it hasn’t sent anything for that yet.
- Open your tracker’s app and let it sync.
- Come back to MoveTogether and pull to refresh.
On iPhone, a recent day’s steps can go up but not down. If another device’s higher steps counted before your tracker synced, the higher number stays. See my steps went up and won’t come down.
No Apple Watch: Move can include more than your tracker (iPhone)
Without an Apple Watch, Apple Health keeps its own Move total for your day. It adds your iPhone’s movement to workouts from any app that writes to Apple Health, like Garmin Connect or Strava. MoveTogether uses whichever is higher for Move: your tracker’s active calories, or Apple Health’s Move total. So your Move can read higher than your tracker’s app, even after your tracker syncs. Steps and Exercise still come from your tracker. With an Apple Watch: Move matches your Watch
On days you wear your Apple Watch, your Move is your Watch’s Move ring, the same number you see in the Fitness app. That’s true even if you chose a different tracker. Steps and Exercise come from the tracker you chose.Your tracker’s app shows one workout, not your day
Many tracker apps show the calories for each workout. MoveTogether’s Move is your active calories for the whole day so far. A run that burned 505 calories in your tracker’s app won’t match your day’s Move. Also check that you’re comparing active calories. Some apps show total calories, which include what your body burns at rest, so they read much higher. The same workout shows up twice
If two apps record the same workout, like WHOOP and Garmin Connect, it can appear twice in your activity. It doesn’t earn extra points. Workout Count scores at most 1 point a day, and Distance counts a run saved by two apps once. See the scoring reference.Still doesn’t match?
- Compare the same day and the same metric.
- Wait for your tracker to sync, then pull to refresh.
- To change which tracker counts, see choose which tracker counts.
- If it still looks wrong, tell the support chat your tracker, the date, the metric, and both numbers.
