You don’t log workouts inside MoveTogether. You record them on your watch, phone, or workout app, and MoveTogether reads them from Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android). This works the same on every plan.

How a workout becomes ring progress

  1. You record the workout on your watch, phone, or wearable app.
  2. That app writes it to Apple Health or Health Connect.
  3. MoveTogether reads it from there, and the workout shows up.
  4. Your Move, Exercise, and Steps rings update from the same data. They follow the tracker you chose, so a workout from another device shows up but doesn’t add to your rings.
If the workout isn’t in Apple Health or Health Connect, it can’t appear here.

How Exercise minutes are counted

Exercise minutes come from your chosen tracker. How they’re counted depends on that tracker:
  • If two workouts overlap, the overlapping time counts once.
  • A day can’t have more than 24 hours of Exercise.
  • Workouts typed in by hand never count.
MoveTogether’s number can differ from your tracker’s own app, which may count minutes outside workouts. See fitness data not syncing.

Workouts in competitions

In a Workout Count competition, you earn the day’s point with a workout over 15 minutes. Workouts from any device count here, not only your tracker’s. See the scoring reference.

A workout is missing

Check these in order.
  1. The wearable’s app: check the workout is there. If not, it was never recorded, and MoveTogether can’t recover it.
  2. Apple Health or Health Connect: check it’s there too. If not, turn on sharing in the wearable’s app. See Apple Health or Health Connect.
  3. Typed in by hand: workouts entered by hand in Apple Health or Health Connect don’t count and won’t show up.
  4. Permissions: a permission can be turned off in your phone’s settings after you first allow it. See manage and troubleshoot data sources.
  5. Refresh: tap + > Sync activity.

Why there’s no manual entry

Rings and competition scores are built from measured activity. Typed-in numbers can’t be checked, and a race where some scores are measured and others are typed isn’t fair. That’s also why steps and workouts typed into Apple Health or Health Connect by hand don’t count.

Still stuck?

If the workout is in Apple Health or Health Connect, wasn’t typed in by hand, and still hasn’t shown up after a day, contact support. Include the date and the app that recorded the workout.
