The Chat tab brings together group conversations, official updates, and routes to direct messages. Joined community and competition conversations appear under Your Chats. The toolbar has Direct Messages and Notifications; the latter is the inbox for @mentions across chats you belong to.

Find the right conversation

  • To open a group chat, open Chat and select it under Your Chats.
  • To discover a community, open Chat, scroll to Explore Communities, then select its card. The preview is read-only; use Join to become a member and post.
  • Open MoveTogether Updates at the top of Chat for official, read-only announcements. Updates do not accept replies.
  • Tap Direct Messages in the Chat toolbar to continue a one-to-one conversation. Starting a new DM needs Membership or Pro.
  • Tap Notifications in the Chat toolbar to see @mentions from your DMs, communities, and competition chats. Selecting an item opens its source conversation.
The Direct Messages and Notifications toolbar controls can show unread counts. Community conversations do not create their own unread badge; use the mentions inbox when someone calls you out. Notification delivery also depends on your device permission, Settings → Notifications preferences, and any conversation-level mute setting. For who can use each channel, see Direct messaging.
