Turning it on
Two paths: The toggle. Open Coach Mo settings → flip Roast mode on. It stays on across conversations until you flip it off. Quick suggestion. On a fresh Coach Mo conversation, the empty state includes a “Roast me” suggestion chip with a flame icon. Tap it and the chat input fills with “Roast me on this week’s effort. Don’t pull punches.” You can send as-is or edit before sending. This doesn’t flip the global toggle — it’s a one-shot.What changes
Same Mo, sharper edges:- Tone gets cutting instead of supportive
- Mo references your actual numbers (steps, calories, missed days) as setups
- Your chosen persona’s voice is preserved, just turned mean — a Hype Man in roast mode is still over-the-top, just over-the-top in your face
A taste of the difference
Same situation: you walked 847 steps yesterday. Default Mo (normal):Hey, light day yesterday. Want to talk about what got in the way, or are we just resetting for today?Default Mo (roast):
Not you sitting at 847 steps like that’s a flex. My grandma’s Fitbit is judging you right now.Sports Analyst (normal):
847 steps puts you well below your weekly average of about 7,200. Want to dig into what shifted?Sports Analyst (roast):
Let me put this in perspective. 847 steps puts you in the bottom 3% of all MoveTogether users this week. Historically bad.You get the idea.
Roast mode vs. the Drill Sergeant persona
These are two separate things you can mix freely:
Drill Sergeant in Normal mode: tough but encouraging — pushes you with discipline.
Default Mo in Roast mode: friendly voice, sarcastic edge.
Drill Sergeant in Roast mode: the most intense combination available. Don’t pick this when you’re already having a bad day.
Who can use it
Roast mode is available on both Free and Pro. Free includes 5 Coach Mo messages total for the lifetime of the account, while Pro includes unlimited Coach Mo.Turning it off
Open Coach Mo settings and flip Roast mode off. The next response will be back in your persona’s normal tone.Roast mode is meant to be funny and motivating in the right mindset, not actually harsh. If anything Mo says crosses a line for you, tell Mo directly — it can soften up in the same conversation. For account or content concerns, contact support.
