Set up teams
- Start a new competition: Compete > + (Add competition) > Create competition, then pick Compete.
- Choose scoring and dates as usual.
- On Public or private?, under Teams, turn on Team competition (Compete in groups instead of individually).
- Pick how many teams: 2, 3, or 4.
- On Set up teams, name each team and pick its color.
- Under TEAM ASSIGNMENT, pick one:
- Auto-assign: each person who joins goes on the team with the fewest people. If teams are tied, they go on the lower-numbered team.
- Manual: you put each invited player on a team on the next step.
- Under YOUR TEAM, pick your own side.
- Invite people and tap Create competition.
With Manual, anyone who joins without your invite, for example through a shared link, waits without a team. The apps can’t change teams after the competition is created, so invite everyone you want to place before you create it, or use Auto-assign.
Rules
- Teams are set when the competition is created. The host can’t add, remove, or rename teams later.
- A team competition can’t be a Collective competition, and it can’t use Best days.
- When two teams have the same average, the app lists one above the other, but their scores are level.
Read the team standings
Your team card. At the top of the competition screen, YOUR TEAM shows your team’s name, its rank (such as #2 of 4), and your teammates with their points. Long lists show 5 people and a Show all button. Team Standings. Every team, ranked by avg per person: the team’s total points divided by its number of people. That keeps it fair when one team has fewer people. Team colors. On the leaderboard, a dot in each person’s team color shows which team they’re on. See a team. Tap any team in Team Standings to see its members, their points, and their place on the overall leaderboard. Example: Team Red has 3 people with 30, 24, and 18 points (72 total). Team Blue has 4 people with 25, 20, 15, and 12 points (72 total). Red’s average is 24 and Blue’s is 18, so Red leads, even though both totals are 72.Something not right?
- You’re not on a team: the competition probably uses Manual assignment and you joined through a link. Ask the host.
- A team’s total looks small: rankings use the average per person, not the total.
- More help: competition issues.
