Best days is an option a host can turn on when creating a competition. Each person’s worst days stop counting toward their total, so one sick day or travel day doesn’t decide the race. Hosting it needs a Membership or Pro. Anyone can join. It works on iPhone and Android.

Turn it on

  1. Start a new competition and pick Compete.
  2. Pick Total Activity, or Head to Head with Steps, Calories, or Exercise.
  3. Pick dates. The competition must be at least 3 days long.
  4. On Public or private?, turn on Best days. Its note reads “Only each person’s best days count toward their total.”
  5. Set Days to drop. The preview reads, for example, Drop each person’s worst 2 days.
  6. Finish and tap Create competition.
If you’re on the Free plan, Best days shows a MEMBER label, and tapping it opens the upgrade screen.

How your total works

Your total is the sum of your best days. The number of days that count is the competition’s length minus the days dropped. A day with no synced data at all isn’t one of your days, so nothing is dropped until you have more days of data than the number that count. Example: a 7-day Steps race drops 2 days, so your best 5 days count. Your total is 12,000 + 11,000 + 10,000 + 9,000 + 8,000 = 50,000 points. Without Best days it would be 52,000. Partway through, after Thursday, you’d have only 4 days of data. That’s fewer than the 5 that count, so all 4 count: 32,000 points.

What you’ll see

  • The leaderboard shows a chip such as Worst 2 days dropped. Tap it to see an explanation.
  • In the daily breakdown, a day that doesn’t count is marked Not counted.
  • Which days count can change as new days sync. A great day later in the week can push an earlier day out.

Something not right?

  • The app says “Best days doesn’t work with team competitions yet.”: turn off Team competition.
  • The app says “Best days needs a competition of at least 3 days.”: make the competition longer.
  • The app says you can drop at most a number of days: lower Days to drop to that number.
  • You can’t find Best days: it only appears for Total Activity and for Head to Head on Steps, Calories, or Exercise.
  • A day shows Not counted: it’s one of your lowest days. That’s expected.
  • More help: competition issues and the scoring reference.
