# Use Chat, Updates, and mentions

> Find direct messages, group chats, official updates, and @mentions in the Chat tab.

The **Chat** tab brings together competition and community conversations. Its toolbar opens **Direct Messages** and the notifications view for @mentions.

## Find the right conversation

* Open **MoveTogether Updates** for official, read-only announcements.
* Tap a competition or joined community card to open its group chat.
* Use **Direct Messages** to start or continue a one-to-one conversation.
* Open the notifications view to review messages that @mention you.

Chat-tab badges can reflect unread updates and mentions. Notification delivery also depends on your device permission and **Settings → Notifications** preferences.
