# Check in on a quiet friend in a competition

> How MoveTogether nudges you when someone in a private competition goes quiet, what Check in and Text them instead do, and the Crew health card for Pro hosts.

When someone in a private competition stops logging activity, MoveTogether can ask a friend in that competition to check in on them. It works on iPhone and Android, on app version 2.1.3 or later, on every plan. Pro hosts also get a **Crew health** card that shows who has gone quiet.

## When you get a check-in prompt

You may get a notification such as "Sam hasn't logged activity since Tuesday. Check in?" when all of this is true:

* The competition is **private**, **active**, has **3 or more people**, and isn't an always-on competition.
* Someone in it has logged no activity for **2 days**.
* You're the most active other person in the competition over the last few days, and you're not quiet yourself.
* You have competition notifications on, and neither of you has blocked the other.

Notifications only arrive between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. your time. Nothing is sent on the first two days or on the last day of a competition. Some competitions are left out of check-in prompts, so you may not get one even when someone is quiet.

The person who went quiet also gets their own reminder: "Your crew's still going. One sync brings you back."

## Check in or text them

Open the notification, or open the competition. A card at the top names the quiet person and gives you two choices.

| Button | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Check in** | MoveTogether sends them a notification that you checked in on them. You see "Done. You checked in on \[name]." |
| **Text them instead** | Your texting app opens with a short note ready to send: "Hey, just checking in. We miss you in \[competition]. Everything ok?" MoveTogether sends nothing. |

### Limits

* One check-in per quiet stretch, from whoever acts first: you or the host.
* One prompt per quiet stretch, and at most 2 quiet stretches per person per competition.
* If your check-in doesn't reach them, the card says so and you can try again or text them.

## Crew health card for Pro hosts

If you host a private competition and you're on Pro, the competition screen shows **Crew health**: "Only you can see this, as the host." It lists every other person with one label.

| Label | What it means |
| - | - |
| **Healthy** | They've logged activity in the last 2 days. |
| **Quiet** | No activity for 2 days or more. |
| **Never synced** | Nothing has synced for them since they joined. |

When someone is **Quiet** and nobody has checked in yet, a **Check in on \[name]** button sends them the same notification.

The card shows from the competition's second day to its last day. It needs the same kind of competition as the prompts: private, active, 3 or more people, and not always-on. Hosts on other plans don't see it.

## Something not right?

* You never get prompts: check that competition notifications are on. See [notification problems](https://docs.movetogetherfitness.com/troubleshooting/notification-problems.md).
* Someone shows **Never synced**: their phone hasn't sent any activity. Point them to [sync issues](https://docs.movetogetherfitness.com/troubleshooting/sync-issues.md).
* You'd rather not be nudged: turn off competition notifications in [notification settings](https://docs.movetogetherfitness.com/account/notifications.md).
